Your $20 SSPEC Membership

We are a special subject council under the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation and our members include special education teachers, consultants and coordinators, speech language pathologists, psychologists and those who have an interest in Special Education in our province.

Our province has distinct needs, a diverse population, and extensive travel distances in our rural school divisions. Ultimately, SSPEC seeks to build a system of support and advocacy for all persons interested in Special Education in the province of Saskatchewan.

The Saskatchewan Special Education Council needs your support. Two years ago we addressed Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation (STF) Council to put forth a resolution requesting a survey of special education teacher to study our various titles, increasing demands of special educators, and our ever-changing roles and responsibilities. Thanks to the STF Councillors, the resolution was passed. We keep checking with the STF but still have no further information. This is where we need you! Your membership is important, so that SSPEC can be recognized as representing many teachers from across the province. We need to have a voice advocating for special education in this province and, in order to be recognized, we need to increase our membership.

To add value to your membership SSPEC provides professional learning opportunities annually at our conference. We offer networking time to engage in grassroots discussions on specific hot-button topics and share resources and strategies during this full-day conference. Also, we share a newsletter at least three times each year with our members and special educators across the province and we maintain our website to keep in touch.
